Wheatley Hills Development

As many of you are aware, The City of Olathe has received a rezoning application for Wheatley Hills Commercial and Residential Development located at the southeast corner of 143rd Street and Pflumm Road. The developer is requesting that the City approve a 27 acre retail/office park that includes a significant amount of office, restaurant, and other retail spaces with parking to accommodate 752 vehicles.

In addition to the proposed Commercial Development, the applicant is also requesting approval of 246 new residential lots to be located south and east of the commercial site. The proposed the proposed lots will have a minimum area of 7,200 square feet, which is considerably smaller then, and inconsistent with, the size standards set by the existing residential property in the area.

The Symphony Hills Board of Directors has reviewed the development proposals and recommends opposing these applications based on the information above information and other unaddressed concerns, such as lack of adequate infrastructure to deal with the increased traffic, building size, lighting, noise concerns, and lack of green space.

Because the significance of these proposals and the impact they will have on our neighborhood and property values, we encourage members to attend the Olathe Planning Commission meeting on September 9th at 7:00 PM at the City of Olathe City Hall, 100 E Santa Fe, Olathe, KS 66051.
